Kyushindo Karate is a very flexible style which uses all natural circular movements of all the body. There aren’t any secrets in this self defence; the only way to be good in this discipline is to train in a regular and rational way. Before starting a Karate lesson it is very important to do the warming up exercise and after that put in practise the techniques. The key to learn this self defence is to work constantly with the Kata because in them you will find techniques of defence or attack with co-ordination, speed, and power. With the regular training of the Kata the Karate students will reach a personal experience and feeling to understand the relation between Mind , Body and Spirit. The main purpose of this discipline it’s not just to learn a self defence but to be a better person in the club and outside the club in every day life. The discipline and the respect are important qualities which a person should have before they can put in to practise the technical side of karate. It’s not possible to learn the practical and theory of karate in a short time, also with this discipline there is a beginning but not an end. Some of the reasons that people would want to learn karate could be various: to learn a self defence, to keep fit, to socialise with other people. For anybody who practises karate, through the years will improve the fitness and the technique making their personality stronger and build up their confidence. Everybody has got a different height, weight, some could be rigid or flexible but with a regular practise of karate anybody will discover which technique is more appropriate and natural for their own body frame. Before the 2nd World War karate was practise only as a martial art, but from the early 1950s it was introduced to the rest of the world as a self defence with a combination of Sport and Discipline.
G.S.Mayo French teacher in Kyushindo Judo, with the cooperation of Ray Wood ,will develop Kyushindo Karate in England. Sensei Ricky was the second black belt to be made in the Bristol Club. It’s very important to remember Chief G.S.Mayo got advice and help from the Japanese teacher Kenshiro Abbe Master and Judo champion, Aikido and Kendo. In this style , the Kyushindo badge and the philosophy came from Chief Mayo and Master Kenshiro Abbe.
When Sensei Ricky Diego Giardina went back to Italy in 1977 he had permission from Chief Mayo to have the Kyushindo badge with the Dragon in front of the Sun.
The Sun represents a perfect circle and life.
The Blue represents the universe.
The Dragon represents flexability and power.
The meaninig of kyushindo could be: The way of martial arts spirit, the search for the perfect way, the search for the truth. The purpose of all these qualitys means to bring everything together as one, physically, mentally and spiritually.

VINCENZO GIARDINA
In 1977 I started to learn Kyushindo Karate in Italy (Sicily, Canicatti` AG) following my father Sensei Ricky (Diego-Giardina).Since I was I kid I discover the benefits what this discipline can give to anybody. More I practise this stile and more I understand it’s not only about kicking and punching but for me is a way of life. We all know there are many sports which can help to have a healthy life and for me Karate it’s a complete Sport plus as got the benefit of self-defence, these two qualities together helps a lot to keep me fit and to build up my confidence. My opinion this discipline is a very good natural medicine, because many times after a difficult and stressful day, when I finish my Karate lesson the body and the mind will feel relax with a nice feeling of stress relief.
Between 1977 and 1996 living in Italy I always followed Sensei Ricky and in England from 1997 till present. When I was living in Italy being part of KIA group and a member of FIAM, WAKO and after UNIB and FEKDA, toke me nearly 20 years to rich the grade of black belt 4th DAN. Moving back to England I also carried on with my Karate teaching in various North Somerset council sports centre and training under Sensei Ricky in Bristol. Being a member of British Karate Association I took part in 1999 in the BKA Open Championships in the team kata competition, wining the 1st place in Oldham in Manchester, this victory was not only a great feeling to win the gold but mainly a positive result of a really hard work of all the team and thanks for all the experience and advice from Sensei Ricky in every Single Karate lesson. In April 2000 after a Karate seminar in Weston Super Mare I had the honour to receive the 5thDAN from Claudio Pastore General Secretary of FEKDA. Every year my self with my Dad Sensei Ricky ,we try to go to Italy and visit the KIA group in Sicily to train together in Sports Centre or in private Clubs.
Every chance is a good reason to train together from a normal Karate lesson to a big seminary.
